Theragun is used to apply an extremely fast percussion/pulsation movement (2,400 times per minute, i.e. 40 times per second) to the affected area, reaching deep into the tissue (up to 16 mm) in order to relax the muscles and reduce pain. This deep and rapid pulsation of muscle fibres stimulates the nervous system, encouraging heat and blood flow to bring in oxygen and nutrients, while at the same time cleansing waste products. The high percussion speed is meant to overcome pain signals in the brain, making the treatment more comfortable just like a manual massage.
