Cup therapy
What is
Cupping therapy consists of applying small glass, ceramic, metal or silicone containers (cups) directly to the patient’s skin by a process that creates a vacuum inside the cups. The purpose of cupping is to draw blood to the surface of the skin in certain parts of the body (most commonly the back) that need healing, thus helping the Qi energy flow to unblock and flow freely through the body to ensure its proper functioning and health.
How to apply?
The therapy consists of applying, usually on the back, suction cups (small containers made of glass, plastic, bamboo, ceramic or metal), which are positioned according to the energy meridians. The therapist will estimate the number of suction cups that will be attached to the patient’s back and left to work for 5 to 10 minutes. By the suction created on the skin the suction cups promote the opening of the pores and the elimination of toxins from the body, stimulating the balancing of the vital Qi force and the removal of energy blockages.
What conditions does it treat?
Cupping therapy should be part of a comprehensive health recovery plan, but can also be applied as an individual therapy in some situations. It is recommended in the treatment of lesions, inflammations or pain localized at a certain level. . Cupping therapy is based on the belief that the use of suction or vacuum on specific points of a patient’s body can help to remove blockages in the natural energy pathways within the body and therefore heal illnesses.
