Mckenzie Technique
What is
Using the Mckenzie technique
developed by New Zealand physiotherapist Robin Mckenzie, spinal static disorders are assessed and treated. This technique is a passive form of spinal manipulation that combines specially selected medical exercises (mostly in extension) with spinal mobilisations.
How to apply?
Initial assessment is essential in the Mckenzie technique and the Mckenzie treatment method consists of combining corrective postures with specific therapeutic exercises and spinal mobilisations. Our team includes certified physical therapists who are competent in the McKenzie method of assessment and treatment.
What conditions are treated?
Through this technique we aim to educate the patient so that they are aware of the underlying causes of pain and the movements that promote pain. The patient also needs to understand what the treatment methods are and how to avoid recurrence of painful episodes. We therefore actively involve the patient in the recovery programme. The Mckenzie technique is frequently recommended in the treatment of conditions such as lumbar disc disease, herniated discs or other degenerative changes of the spine.
Benefits
– Recovery of functionality in the lumbar spine;
– Pain reduction;
– Correction of deficit posts;
– Prevent recurrence of painful episodes;
– Pain relief for herniated disc disease.
