Plasma therapy or Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

What is

PRP therapy or platelet rich plasma (PRP = “platelet rich plasma”) injection is a revolutionary treatment based on a simple principle, using the body’s own resources to heal and regenerate tissue. Among the most important factors involved in these complex processes are platelets (or thrombocytes), cells found in the blood that intervene immediately post-traumatically, ensuring both the stopping of bleeding (initiating the clotting process) and wound healing. The main qualities of plasma therapy are to trigger the process of building healthy epithelial, muscle and connective tissues. Moreover, this treatment simultaneously influences all stages of regeneration and ensures the necessary synergy of all recovery processes in the body.

How to apply?

PRP therapy provides a high content of all primary, secondary and tertiary growth factors that are naturally combined, unlike many artificially created preparations.
For plasma therapy, special tubes are used, which can be of different sizes depending on the amount of plasma required. Blood is collected from the patient into these tubes, then centrifuged, resulting in thrombocyte-enriched plasma (platelets), which is then injected/infused into the patient’s affected areas. Following therapy, platelets release growth factors, inducing a biological process of tissue repair that cannot be reproduced by other methods.

What conditions does it treat?

In traumatology, the applications of enriched plasma treatment are practically unlimited due to the enormous contribution of growth factors specific to the organism in question, which are not found in any other treatment, being the most natural method of stimulating the recovery of damaged structures.
Shoulder disorders: – tendonitis, impingement syndrome or bursitis, labral tear, scapulohumeral joint arthrosis
Elbow conditions: lateral epicondylitis (tennis player), medial epicondylitis (golfer), elbow periarthritis, elbow arthrosis.
Fist disorders: arthrosis, de Quervain’s tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome with median nerve damage.
Hip disorders: psoas tendonitis and bursitis, adductor tendonitis (athlete’s pubalgia) iliotibial tract tendonitis, trochanteric bursitis, hip arthritis.
Knee disorders: partial ligament tears, patellar tendonitis, knee arthrosis of both the femoral tibial joint and the patellofemoral joint.
Ankle disorders: fibular tendonitis, Achilles tendonitis, ankle sprains.

Benefits

The most significant advantage of PRP therapy is the autologous nature of the product used, the plasma is not of foreign origin but is obtained from the patient’s own blood. It is a product of natural origin with no risk of rejection or allergic reactions. The entire procedure is minimally invasive, easy to apply and painless. The duration of a plasma treatment session is short, lasting about 30 minutes. In addition to these benefits, PRP therapy requires no recovery period, no scarring, and results appear within two weeks of the first injection.
The most important benefits of the therapy are:
  • Pain relief (in case of injuries, after surgery)
  • Rapid healing of implants (dental, cardiac, orthopaedic)
  • Rapid healing and healing of ulcers, scar healing, including post-acne
  • Significant anti-inflammatory action
  • Speed wound healing
  • Increased immunity
